Last weekend we traveled to Michigan to celebrate our niece Ashley's first birthday. Taylor did pretty well on the flight out - a little restless and tired, but overall we can't complain. As for the airport, well, that's another story. She screamed and whined her way through security, and then once we finally got through, she decided that she wanted to run around like a bat out of hell shrieking at the top of her lungs. The guy sitting in front of us on our flight said that he had seen her running around and mentioned how cute she was (he did not mention that he was probably praying he was not sitting anywhere near her, HA).
So we made it, and got to spend some time with Jake's side of the family for a couple days. T has gotten less and less shy with every visit, and this time she even let Grandpa hold her a time or two. It was great to see Ashley, who is so much bigger than the last time we saw her and walking all over the place. Taylor was super sweet with Ashley for the most part... she learned how to say her name and would give her flowers as gifts (which Ashley loved!).

On Friday we went to the mall with Grandma, Grandpa and Ashley for a little play time, and then to Rainforest Cafe for lunch. T thought that place was the greatest thing ever - she serenaded us with elephant noises all through the meal.

Ashley's ladybug party was on Saturday, and it was super cute and lots of fun. Ashley knew exactly what to do with her cake. :) Taylor thought the cake was awesome too - it only took me 6 months or so to convince her that cake is good!

A few photos of the birthday girl to come!

On Sunday it was time to head home. Taylor once again thought security was some sort of toddler torture (what is up with that?), but the flight home was awesome. For the first time ever with Taylor (after 10 flights or so), the plane was not completely booked, so she got to stretch out in her own seat and even get some sleep. It was wonderful. :)
