2 months old (almost - the pic is two days early, as we'll be in Michigan for Thanksgiving on her two month birthday)! At her 2 month appointment, Taylor measured 23 1/2" tall (91st percentile), and 12 lbs. 6.5 oz. (90th percentile). Breastmilk does a girl good - everyone comments on how big she is! She's practically out of the 0-3 month clothes, and she's even getting a little too tall for some of the 3-6 month footie one pieces. Taylor also had her 2 month vaccinations, and she did great - she was actually more upset before the shots than after!
By 5 weeks, it was obvious that Taylor clearly recognized both myself and Jake. She started making clear and steady eye contact with us, often breaking into the sweetest smile! Also by around 5 weeks, she was tracking toys and other objects with her eyes, although she still doesn't show a whole lot of interest in them. She will contentedly lie in the play gym, though, as she seems to like watching the overhead lights.
When doing tummy time, her legs just go, go, go! If we place our hands at her feet to give her something to push off of, she'll scoot herself across the floor. She's also learning to use her hands. If her pacifier starts to fall out, she'll jam it back in and hold it there using the back of her hand. Speaking of pacifiers, she seems to have warmed up to them (though she doesn't really seem to need them).
She is definitely less fussy these days; the fussiness peaked around 6 1/2 weeks and she has been much happier since. She'll get rather cranky in the evenings if she doesn't nap well during the afternoon, so we try to make a point to get her down for a few hours every day. She's finally enjoying the swing and the bouncer, although the swing rarely puts her to sleep, like it apparently does for so many babies. She will swing contentedly for longer periods of time, however, and she often hangs out or takes short naps in the bouncer. She still loves going for walks in her stroller and for rides in the car; she nearly always falls asleep right away. We've started putting her in the Bumbo - she doesn't seem to mind it, though she needs some practice at balancing that upper body! :)
Her favorite place continues to be the changing pad. For the longest time she'd just look at the wall and smile at it, it was the funniest thing! We couldn't figure out what was so interesting about that wall. Now, though, she looks at us instead and she babbles on and on. She has a lot to say, and the constant smiles are priceless! And her newest feat - laughs! Ironically, the first ones I saw were right before she went to the pedi to get her 2 month shots.
Night time sleep continues to improve! Around weeks 5 and 6, she was sleeping a good 4 hour stretch, followed by a 2 1/2 hour stretch, then another hour or two. By 7 weeks, her first stretch had grown to 5 hours, while the second was around 2 1/2 - 3 hours (but it's gradually getting longer, sometimes even up to 4 hours or so). I am thoroughly enjoying the longer periods of sleep.
